Acquisition Services

This department is responsible for developing the library collection to support the university's academic programs and to meet the information needs of academic staff, administrative personnel, and students. Acquisitions are carried out in two ways:

1. Donations

Publications donated to the library are evaluated by the Publication Selection Committee in accordance with the collection development policy of the Pamukkale University Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Library.

  • Policy: According to our donation policy, conditional donations are not accepted.

  • Process: Publications approved for the collection first undergo movable property procedures (inventory registration) and are subsequently forwarded to the Cataloging and Classification Unit.

  • Institutional Exchange: In accordance with the University Publications Regulation, our institution receives donated publications from other universities. Likewise, our university sends all types of its own publications to other institutions as donations.

2. Purchasing

This process involves the acquisition and/or subscription of electronic and printed information resources. This is achieved by following current publications and fulfilling requests from the university's faculties, Vocational Schools (MYO), and institutes.

  • Request Process: Official letters are sent to faculties and Vocational Schools requesting them to submit their resource requests as a list to our department. Additionally, users may submit requests by filling out the "Publication Request Form" available on the library website. For database requests, the "Database Request Form" under the forms tab must be completed.

  • Evaluation and Procurement: Printed publication requests received by our department are evaluated by the Publication Selection Committee. Approved lists are procured through direct supply or tender methods.

  • Post-Purchase: Once received, publications are invoiced and registered as movable property. They are then sent to the Cataloging and Classification Unit to be organized and made available to users.

  • Digital Resources: Database requests are first opened for trial access, taking the relevant faculties and units into consideration. Following the trial period, the committee evaluates the subscription based on usage statistics and the department’s budget before finalizing the subscription process.
